Her father, Peter A. Maimonis

Vice principal, Alfred Nobel Elementary School, West Humboldt Park.

Peter A. Maimonis devoted his career to Chicago’s Public School System. His responsibility to his students extended beyond the school doors: when neighborhood streets were unsafe, he walked frightened children home. Alexandra grew up seeing what it meant to be the person others could count on.

Her uncle, Ronald G. Maimonis

Former Assistant Cook County State’s Attorney; Supervisor of the Juvenile Court for over 20 years.

Her father’s youngest brother devoted most of his career to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, working to secure justice for children who could not advocate for themselves. A DePaul graduate in accounting and law, he became a longtime chairman of the Juvenile Bar Association and authored IICLE sections on juvenile trial technique—sharing the knowledge he had built in the courtroom with the lawyers who followed.
